How Do I Choose The Right Implant? 

There are commonly three types of dental implants available:

• Single implants, which replace one tooth;
• Implant-supported partial dentures, which replace multiple teeth on the same side;
• Implant-supported full-arch dentures, which replace an entire arch.
  

For implant-supported dentures, full or partial, you will receive around 4 dental implants interested into the jaw, and then the dental prosthetic is placed on top.

The one you will need will depend on the extent of your dental damage. If you only have 1-2 missing teeth, but the rest are generally healthy, the surgeon will recommend a singular implant. If the damage is greater, full or partial dentures might be necessary.

The Dental Implant Process

Here is what you can expect one getting a dental implant:

• Preparation - The dentist needs to make sure you are a good candidate for dental implants, the type of implant you need, and maybe even address certain dental health issues before the surgery. This can take even a few appointments, depending on your oral health;
  

• Surgery - The dentist makes an incision on the site where the implant will go and inserts the metal root;
  

• Healing - It can take even 6 months to fully heal from dental implant surgery. During this time, you might need to see the surgeons for a follow-up, and get your measurements for the custom crown;
  

• The crown - Once you’ve completely healed, the abutment and crown are attached to the dental implant, and the entire process is complete. You might feel a bit sore after getting the crown because your teeth need some time to adjust. By the next day, you should not feel any more discomfort.
